With the increasing popularity of online education and remote learning, Zoom has become one of the most widely used platforms for conducting virtual classes.

Zoom provides this step-by-step video on creating a virtual classroom, and in this guide, we will walk you through the process of setting up and managing your virtual classroom effectively.

  1. Sign up for a Zoom account – If you haven’t already, visit the Zoom website and sign up for a free account. You can also choose to upgrade to a paid plan for additional features and benefits.
  2. Schedule a meeting – Once you have your Zoom account, log in and navigate to the “Meetings” tab. Click on “Schedule a New Meeting” to set up your virtual classroom session.
  3. Customize meeting settings – Before scheduling the meeting, you can customize various settings such as meeting duration, password protection, and enabling waiting rooms for added security. Make sure to configure these settings according to your requirements.
  4. Invite students to join – After scheduling the meeting, you will receive a unique meeting ID and URL. Share this information with your students via email or any other communication channel. You can also use the Zoom integration with learning management systems to streamline the invitation process.
  5. Conduct your virtual class – On the scheduled date and time, start the Zoom meeting and wait for your students to join. Use the various features provided by Zoom, such as screen sharing, chat, and breakout rooms, to facilitate interactive and engaging sessions. Make sure to have a stable internet connection and a quiet environment for a smooth virtual class experience.
  6. Manage your virtual classroom – After the virtual class, you can access the meeting recordings, attendance reports, and other analytics from your Zoom account. Utilize these resources to evaluate student participation and progress. Additionally, you can provide feedback and communicate with your students through Zoom’s messaging features.

By following these steps, you can successfully create and manage a virtual classroom on Zoom. Remember to explore the various features and settings offered by Zoom to enhance your online teaching experience.

In this video you will experience an actual Zoom Workshop from the perspective of the presenter. You will see how the interactive tools are used; how breakout rooms work – how the presenter can visit the rooms and how to bring participants back from the rooms; and which platforms have the best features.
